:: Sh. Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s Scientific Award's Results 2003 & Summaries of             Winning Studies

 

Researches were invited to write on the following topics:

  • Youth and Violence.

  • Youth and the Problem of adaptation and Vacant Time.

  • Youth and the Problem of Identity.

The referring of the studies presented to the Center (49 studies) dealing with the above topics, resulted in the winning of the three following studies:

  1. Youth Violence Phenomenon in Arab Community: Reasons and Ways of Treatment from Education Point of View (First Award $3000).

  2. Youth Unemployment and its Criminal Results Evaluated Study (Second Award $2000).

  3. Violence in Secondary Education (Third Award $1000).

Summary of the Winning Studies

 

:First Study

 

 

              The youth stage is the most important and dangerous parts of their life. It is the

state of    construction and social production. It is also the stage of power. A person has the activity and vitality as well as excitement and features that make him a positive and active member to eliminate the duties assigned to him. So , violence in particular is correlated to this stage. Regardless, the motivation and reasons behind this violence, local, internal Arab national, international, the purpose of which is to get something from Arab community and stop its progress. The victim here is the youth who is forced according to number of intersected condition they suffer and prevents to fulfill their goals and satisfy their requirements or to power them selves.

In the mean time where the Arab youth suffering unemployment problem and vacant time poverty social demand freedom restrictions drugs fear from the unknown future ... Mass media presents films and episodes which reflect a very soften high - standard to a very specific group of citizens. In addition the Sex programs that made those youth very depressed and home sick, self  humiliation on and future loss - thing that some of them to be extremist and seek violence.

 

Violence phenomenon on is defined as an ill international social phenomenon emerged by a variety of factors characterized by force unless asperities and by - past the social border default and attacks the moral values and deviation from logic human native ness - this requires power use and threat of its use to make harm (verbal, physical) and harm (psychological or materialistic) of some individuals and community.

 

Shapes of violence vary between simple which does not exceed. The other anger. And strong which leads to death to death. In light of this and starting from:

 

  • The observed increase in violence events in the human community in general and in Arab community in particular. Some studies concluded the pressure 370 terrorism organization around the world in 63 countries. These organization execute these goals in 120 countries. There studies indicates that this organization achieved 794 operations in 1982, 43% in Western Europe, 22% in Latin America 15% in Middle East, 6% in USA.

 

  • Confirmation of strategic Arab report and some other studies that the parameters related to professional distribution to violence group member, the most of them are university students.

 

  • The number of this supporting violence as an effective mean to reach goals increased. Some studies revealed that the violence action which some religion extremist groups perform has increased according to the official registration and advertisement and this is a clear indication to the increased size of the violence.

 

  • A desire to face this phenomenon in Arab community and suggestion of educational system to help establishing organizational treatment and find a possibility to unify the Arab educational work en a clean basis.

 

:So, this study aimed at

 

1. Identify the youth violence phenomenon and their significance in Arab community.

2 .Clarifying the violence nature in the current cultural directions and in view of Islam.

3. Find out the necessity of interest to study this phenomenon.

4. Recording the reasons of prevalence of violence phenomenon in Arab community.

5. Find and the direction of this violence crisis in the Arab community.

6. To discover the consequences that follows the dissemination of this phenomenon.

7. Exploring fundamentals suggested basic and features of this educational system to tow the violence.

 

This study touched the scientific ways to fulfill this and reached a number of recommended and urgent treatments to the violence phenomenon on the level of educational work and level of social work in general.

 

:Second Study 

 

 

The research aims at studying the phenomena of youth unemployment who graduate fro

m higher educational institution and its criminal results in Saudi society, for reaching to the developmental views and suggestions of higher educational outputs, promoting its contribution efficiently in facing the unemployment that will lead to reduce its criminal results.

 

The problem of the study is defined through main question: How can the youth unemployment problem who graduated from higher educational Saudi institutions be evaluated for reducing its criminal results?

Throughout the problem, the following questions are branching:

 

? Which causative factors increase the spreading of unemployment among graduate youth

 

?What is the percentage effect of unemployed graduate on spreading the crimes in society

 

Which suggestions can improve the efficiency of education outputs in order to share the facing ?against unemployment and its criminal results

 

For answering these questions, some literatures related to the study were reviewed such as studies for unemployment and its criminal results, its relations with outputs of higher educational institutions and contributed factors to reduce its efficiency and also its unemployed graduate youth. Questionnaire is prepared and distributed to (38) stuff member in higher educational institutions in K.S.A. The results show that:

The causative factors of unemployment learned youth are numerous. The average important of those factors is (68,02%). This percentage is considered average which is between (74% - 50%). This indicates that although the factors of spreading unemployment among learned youth and their increase through International and local variables are available in modern societies, but those factors can be overcome. Where as the average important of those factors did not over take 74% at the most for its outcomes.

There are significant effects of youth unemployment  due to the decrease of their educational quality, which increase the crimes in society. The average importance of this effect is (75.5%) percent. This great percentage indicated more agreement around the important of those effects which followed by criminal results, that need more cooperation to over come them.

(40) Suggestions have been deducted, which are useful to improve the efficiency of higher educational outputs for facing youth unemployment problem and reduction its effects and its criminal results.

 

:Third Study 

 

 

This study aims at learning something about the problem of violence in both technical a

and general secondary education showing the variety of reactions according to the type

of education both (technical and general) gender (males, Females) and the variety of stage (first year, third year).

     The sample of the study consists of 800 students chosen from secondary schools (general and .technical) in Damietta: 400 males and 400 females. They have been chosen at random.

The study tools contained: clinical interview, the choice of free drawing, Thematic Apperception Test, land test, Eysenck Personality Questionnaire, Minnesote Multiphasic Personality Inventory, school violence criterion-prepared by the researched.

The school violence criterion has been applied to the sample as a whole to pick out the more violence cases.

All the tools have been applied to them to know the dynamics of their violence for the sake of curing them.

 Upon applying the above-mentioned tools, the researcher concluded some results; the most important one is that male-students are more violent in both technical and general education and that general education male-student are more violent than those of technical education. She also concluded that technical education female-student are more violent in physical, verbal and indirect violence. As for general education female-student, they are more violent in material violent and in the general grade. The conclusions also assure that violence is being learned first within the family and hence the necessity of family treatment to decrease the student' violence.
